Additional San Antonio Spurs Info

The San Antonio Spurs started out as the Dallas Chaparrals in the American Basketball Association (ABA), but relocated to San Antonio in 1973, and were renamed the Spurs.

The Spurs joined the NBA in 1976 and captured 5 division titles in their first 7 seasons. After a 4-year slump, superstar center David Robinson joined the team and the Spurs enjoyed a 35-win improvement in the 1989–1990 season. In 1997, all-star Tim Duncan joined the team and along with Robinson, the duo (nicknamed the “Twin Towers”) led the team through a stellar season to win the 1999 NBA Championship. They won another NBA title in 2003 and Robinson retired on top. San Antonio Spurs Ticket Holders were happy to see their team remain dominant even after Robinson’s retirement. The team captured championship victories again in 2005 and 2007.

In 2010–2011, the San Antonio Spurs tied an NBA record by recording their 12th consecutive season with at least 50 victories. They established a new record by recording 50 wins over the next 2 seasons. In 2014, the Spurs defeated the Miami Heat to win their fifth NBA Championship.

Led by emerging star forward Kawhi Leonard, the San Antonio Spurs won a franchise-record 67 games in the 2014–2015 season. The Spurs won 61 games in the 2016–2017 season, and advanced to the Western Conference finals, but lost to the Warriors after Leonard was injured. The following season San Antonio Spurs Ticket Holders saw their team win less than 50 games for the first time in almost 20 years.

San Antonio Spurs Ticket Holders are among the most devoted fans in the NBA and love to root for the team at the AT&T Center. Spurs fans can find tickets to all home games at Golden Tickets.
